Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation (VSEDC) is a community-based nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in South Los Angeles, known for decades of technical and business support to small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs. Founder Marva Smith Battle-Bey passed away in 2016, and in 2025, VSEDC appointed Dr. Jazz Keyes as President and CEO.
In a recent interview with the L.A. Sentinel, Dr. Keyes discussed her journey to California, her extensive experience, her passion for good information, and the ongoing influence the VSEDC team will have in this new era.
