VSEDC, Chase Bank and Elevated Culture came together to help sidewalk vendors get their permits in time for the Leimert Park Juneteenth celebration

Juneteenth is right around the corner. VSEDC’s South LA Business Source Center has been busy helping sidewalk vendors get ready for it.

This Thursday, our Programs and Business Resource Center team will accompany nearly 30 South LA sidewalk vendors to the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services to procure and pay for the permits each vendor needs to legitimize their micro business.

This all started when Renee Moncito and Adrian Veliz from VSEDC partnered with Chase Bank and Elevated Culture to create a series of three hybrid webinars specifically for South LA’s sidewalk vendors, to expand their business and marketing skills, understand the permitting process and help them prepare for the famed Leimert Park Juneteenth celebration.

It turned out to be one of VSEDC’s most popular programs, with 95 micro businesses registered for Orientation. Once the dust settled and all three classes took place, 46 vendors were identified, who required assistance with procuring permits and event booth fees.

Chase Bank granted VSEDC a total of $25,000 to foot the bill for the event registration and permit fees for qualifying vendors.

If you want to support South LA’s sidewalk vendors, below is a list of many of the vendors we have been working with, and who will be at Leimert Park celebrating Juneteenth on Saturday, June 18th.

  • Good morning
Is it to late to become a sidewalk vendor for June 29th?

    • Corey Carleton says:

Hi Blanche, The Start to Scale program has passed, however, you may still receive business assistance from VSEDC. One of our business coaches can help you with the permit process. Reach out to one of our Business Source Centers (Watts or South LA), and ask to speak to someone who can help you. Explain you are not a part of the current sidewalk vendor cohort, but that you read about this on the blog and would like assistance with your micro business as a sidewalk vendor.

      Call: 323-753-2335

Let me know how it goes. – Corey
