VSEDC is excited to celebrate Black History Month the best way we know how: through our fourth annual Black History Month Pitch Competition. Attend our fully online pitch competition on February 27th from 1:00-2:30pm PST and watch eight innovative small businesses compete for cash prizes and the chance to level up their businesses.
Over 150 companies applied for the chance to compete at our Black History Month 60-Second Pitch Competition, but only eight finalists were selected. These finalists will have the opportunity to win a first place prize of $1,500, a second place prize of $1,000, and a third place prize of $500. The audience gets to vote for their favorite company, with an audience choice award of an additional $500. Everyone walks away a winner, with the runner-up in the startup and small business categories each earning a $250 cash prize.
The BHM Pitch Competition will honor three pillars of Los Angeles from the community, corporate, and small businesses sectors:
- Community Honoree: Mike Norice, famed Los Angeles muralist
- Corporate Honoree: Delphine Pruitt, Vice President and Business Access Advisor, US Bank
- Small Business Honoree: Brandon Hedrix, Founder and CEO of HARP Services, LLC
