Mentorship

Thank you for your interest in being a Mentor! We are grateful for people like you who help make a difference in the lives of young people. The following guidelines are to assist mentors in understanding what is expected while performing within the scope of the SLA Best Buy Teen Tech Center. Mentors are role models and must follow the guidance of SLA BBTTC staff.

Requirements:

• Age – Mentors must be at least 18 years old
• Application – Mentors must complete the application
• Training – Participate in training as required
• Code of conduct – Mentors must follow the
• SLA BBTTC Code of Conduct
• Screening process – Mentors must go through a screening process (see below)
• Mentors will commit to a schedule according to the needs of the tech center and/or their availability

Screening process: (Background Checks)
All mentors must complete a Livescan (fingerprinting). Livescan documents are given to the mentor along with a voucher if the mentor chooses to go to a VSEDC partner to conduct the screening.

Interviews:
Mentors are required to interview with the Director, Program Coordinator or designated staff member.
